Hey there, new blog! First things first - here's the fam (and main reason for this blog):
Basically, documenting our life together is my new hobby. To be clear, I'm not a photographer, nor do I aspire to become one. I would like to be able to take a decent picture, I mean, there has to be someone in every family who is willing to be that person, right? To that end, the husband and I decided to purchase a slightly-better-than-your-average-point-and-shoot camera and in my attempt to figure out how to work it I stumbled across the idea of a "Project 365" and using a picture-a-day challenge to help figure out how to take better pictures. I think the idea is that you take a crap ton of pictures and eventually some of them don't turn out so bad. We will see...no promises on quality, only quantity.
One of the keys components of a Project 365 is sharing your photos. I believe this is meant to help keep you motivated and accountable. Also, what's the point of photos if they never see the light of day? So here I am - intending to share my daily photos. I'm not trying to set myself up for failure here though, so I'm aiming for weekly (eek...fingers crossed) posts that feature my picture-a-day for everyday that week. I started my Project 365 on January 1, so seems like I have some catching up to do in the way of posts. I procrastinated starting the blog until today - my 29th birthday. Happy birthday, new blog! We have something in common!
While I'm setting up some expectations, I should cop to the fact that this family of four has a lot of hobbies. I knit, dabble with a sewing machine occasionally, have an unhealthy love of glitter (and who am I kidding, most shiny things), and my obsession with all things paper has created a veritable fire hazard in our home. I'm pretty into letterpress and am determined to figure it out, also calligraphy- despite my unfortunate left-handedness. Screen printing snuck up on me fairly recently and has kind of stolen my heart. Also - my nephew, Ezra. I know he's not a HOBBY, per se, as he is, in fact, a person. But he is a person that I'm really into. Like, really. He's the best 16 month old I know and there will probably be a large number of pictures featuring my fascination with him.
My husband, Tom, has a thing with basically any instrument with strings. He's also determined to figure out how to cook just about everything - he's pretty amazing with a BBQ pit and now he's figuring out how to use a wok. I don't know that he's ever met a documentary, thrift store, or puppy that he didn't love. Together we are pretty into making our house a home that is a reflection of what we love while also being a comfortable place to entertain our friends and family.
As for the pugs (Tele and Fender), their hobbies include bones, seeing how long they can bark at neighboring dogs before they get yanked back inside and told to hush, being grumpy, being desperate for affection, blankets, and laps.
All this to say - there are probably going to be posts/pictures about some or all of the above. Hopefully not this many words...this is probably too many words to set up a blog that should mostly be pictures...oh my.

I love this blog, and YOU, so much!
